Dear Colleagues

We want to draw your attention to the AuthorAID ‘Research Writing in the Social Sciences’, which officially starts on 6th April 2020. AuthorAID offers free online resources, mentoring and collaboration for researchers in low and middle income countries. https://www.authoraid.info/en/
As a geographer, you are also able to take advantage of additional elements of the course, arranged through the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG’s) co-sponsorship, including access to additional online areas, learning resources and optional modules within the course which are not available to other participants. Full details are below.
AuthorAID’s research writing online courses have trained over 11,000 participants in low- and middle-income countries since 2015.  This seven-week course focuses on writing for social science disciplines. Those enrolled will learn about:
•            Pathways to access published research literature
•            Key issues in research and publication ethics 
•            Ways to identify suitable target journals for publishing their research
•            Draft a research manuscript following journal guidelines
•            Deal with the peer review process 
 …and more during an additional module focusing on Academic Writing Skills.

In order to register for the course and the RGS-IBG-sponsored area, it is important that you please enrol by following these instructions:
Step 1: Create a new account for yourself on INASP Moodle or sign into your existing account from here:https://moodle.inasp.info/login/index.php  (if you already have an account please go to step 2). When creating a new account, you will be asked to fill out a short form and provide your email address. You’ll then get a confirmation email at your registered email address, and you have to click a link in that email to confirm your account and start using INASP Moodle. If you do not receive the confirmation email after trying to create an account, please check your junk or spam email folder.
Step 2: Once you have signed up for an account, please fill in the survey here to apply to join the additional sponsored area within the course:https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/AAMOOC-RGS . If you meet the criteria, you will then be sent a code to sign up to the course.

Please note that all weeks marked* are for Geographers taking part in the RGS-IBG-sponsored version of the course only.
Please note that the additional modules and exercises are provided as optional. If you complete these exercises and modules you will receive extra credit on your certificate and digital badge. More information on the completion criteria for these additional activities will be provided once the course begins. If you choose not to participate in these activities, you can still qualify for the main course certificate by completing the main course activities as laid out in the course completion criteria.
