Migrazioni e nuove centralità fra le sabbie del Niger
La recente attenzione dell’Unione Europea verso gli spazi di transito e origine della migrazione subsahariana ha trasformato il territorio della Repubblica del Niger in un laboratorio per le politiche di controllo e gestione dei flussi di mobilità, nonché, progressivamente, in un territorio di accoglienza. Il presente contributo vuole discutere in maniera non esaustiva la nuova centralità assunta dal Niger nel processo di esternalizzazione della frontiera europea osservando i cambiamenti e le criticità intervenute presso alcune comunità migranti nella capitale Niamey.
Abstract: Migrations and New Centralities among the Niger’s Sands
The renewed attention by the European Union towards the spaces of origin and transit of Sub-Saharan migrants have increasingly targeted the republic of Niger. Niger’s territory has been progressively shaped as a laboratory for the management and control of mobility flows and, gradually, in a hosting territory. The present contribution aims to discuss, non-exhaustively, Niger’s new centrality within the process of externalization of the European border by observing changes and difficulties occurring into the different migrant communities in Niamey capital city.
Résumé: Migrations et nouvelles centralités parmi les sables du Niger
La récente attention de l’Union européenne sur les zones de transit et d’origine des migrations subsahariennes a transformé le territoire de la République du Niger en un laboratoire des politiques de contrôle et de gestion des flux de mobilité, ainsi que, progressivement, en territoire d’accueil. La présente contribution a pour objectif de discuter de la nouvelle centralité assumée par le Niger dans le processus d’externalisation de la frontière européenne en observant les changements et les problèmes survenus dans certaines communautés de migrants dans la capitale Niamey.
