Abstract: Inside and outside the Outdoor-Café. Negotiating (public) space in Cagliari
The paper aims at analysing the diffusion of the outdoor-cafés in contemporary urban context. These forms of commercialization of public space (through platforms, tables and umbrellas, etc.) could promote new social relations but also, at the same time, more or less evident dynamics of conflict over different uses of public space. The article presents two antithetic theoretical perspectives on outdoor-cafes and, finally, examines the presence and diffusion of the outdoor cafés in Cagliari.
