Trasporto marittimo e biodiversità nel Mediterraneo. Un approccio critico alla definizione di Geoportali come strumento di supporto alle decisioni
Il cambiamento di rotta nella direzione di uno sviluppo sostenibile del settore del trasporto marittimo rappresenta una delle più ardue sfide cui oggi l’UE si trova di fronte per garantire la salvaguardia della biodiversità e la sopravvivenza dell’ecosistema marino, sul quale il trasporto marittimo sembra esercitare impatti rilevanti. Partendo da una valutazione critica del concetto di biodiversità, alla luce degli studi geografici sulla geodiversità, la ricerca, attraverso l’analisi e l’elaborazione di dati forniti da geoportali e altri enti di ricerca, e dei dati sull’evoluzione del trasporto marittimo, mira a comprendere aspetti quantitativi e qualitativi dell’impatto di tale trasporto sulla biodiversità marina nel contesto mediterraneo, con l’obiettivo di elaborare specifici indicatori di impatto utili per la policy making.
Maritime Transport and Biodiversity in the Mediterranean. A Critical Approach to the Definition of Geoportals as a Decision Support Tool
Changing course in the direction of sustainable development of the maritime transport sector is one of the most difficult challenges facing the EU today to ensure the preservation of biodiversity and the survival of the marine ecosystem, on which maritime transport appears to exert significant impacts. Starting from a critical assessment of the concept of biodiversity, in the light of geographic studies on geodiversity, the research, through the analysis and processing of data provided by geoportals and other research bodies, and data on the evolution of maritime transport, aims to understand quantitative and qualitative aspects of the impact of such transport on marine biodiversity in the Mediterranean context, with the aim of developing specific impact indicators useful for policy making.
