International Geographical Congress, Dublin 2024

Riceviamo da Maria Paradiso e pubblichiamo il messaggio da parte del comitato organizzatore dell’ IGC, che si terrà a Dublino nel 2024.

Dear colleagues,
The International Geographical Union’s 35th International Geographical Congress (IGC) will be taking place in Dublin from the 24th-30th August 2024. My colleagues and I are all delighted to have this opportunity to welcome you to Dublin, and Ireland more broadly, and to have this unique opportunity to share the best of global geographic research, share common challenges and opportunities, and connect with colleagues from across the world. Our opening ceremony will be on Saturday 24th August with papers running all day on Sunday 25th-Wednesday 28th August. Our final set of papers will take place on Thursday 29th August with our closing ceremony in the early afternoon of the same day. Colleagues participating in post-Congress fieldtrips will depart Dublin on the 29th and engage in fieldwork on the 30th.
The theme of our congress is ‘Celebrating a World of Difference’ and we are strongly focused through our academic and fieldwork programme on supporting intercultural awareness and understanding; promoting intellectual diversity as a strength; bringing geographic research and thinking beyond the congress walls; and grappling with the complex interconnections between people, place and the natural world. In an increasingly contested, fragmented and troubled world, celebrating difference as a strength and acknowledging our common humanity is essential.
There is still time to propose a session for IGC 2024. However, all session proposals must be submitted through the IGC 2024 conference website before Saturday 9th September. Abstract submission will open in October, and important dates and deadlines are listed on our website. Please contact us at with any
